A Walk in the Woods

CREATED/ PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/ GIFTED/ PRESS SAMPLE*/
I'm still at my mom's.
It's still gloomy weather.
I'm still wearing the quilted corduroy shirt:
*pink puffed necklace courtesy of Capwell & Co
If I took it off (brrrr) I'd blend right into these woods along my aunt's driveway.
That is, if I lay down like a mossy log:
baby trees!
My scarf has a secret...
ducks in the paisley!
Isn't it a hoot? quack?
Connie, of Snow in the Air, gave it to me when we met up on my first day of the road trip.
She gave me a bag with lots of goodies, the most important being a bottle of water.
Yes, I started a road trip INTO THE DESERT forgetting to pack water.
Doh! Connie came to the rescue! Thanks Connie!

Um, no lack of water here. It has rained for a week. Enough already. I've got ramps to collect.

52 Pick-me-up: Finding My Inner Mr T

PURCHASED/ GIFTED/ PRESS SAMPLE*/ LINKS/

I've noticed not many of you were not up for the Mr T challenge this past week (¡Gracias, Senora Allnut for your wonderful effort!). Me neither. I think driving over 4000 miles is a good excuse. I'm just going to have to have this challenge again next year -- you have been warned! Yes, indeed, 52 Pick-me-up has been so much fun, I'm dealing a second round. More on that and a call for themes later.

Meanwhile...

What better place to find my inner T than New Orleans? There are many shiny objects in NOLA, most of them not worth purchasing. So I stood NEXT to them and had Severo take the photos. [Does that make me a "real" blogger now? That I'm getting my significant other to take my photos? Still, it's just with an iPhone. No big gun (fancy DSLR) in my arsenal.]
My c/o *Capwell & Co necklace looks so demure next to all this!
I have my not-very-functional Narrative Clip attached.
Still don't know if any of the NOLA captures came out. Color me disappointed.
Mardi Gras beads are everywhere!

Beads too shiny? How about feathers?
I'm even clutching a coffee cup! Fashion Blogger Realness!
Or shimmery skirts?
All this is reminding me of someone... I'll add a linky for her! I think she deserves to be my Digital Catwalk Muse this week!

So, you have a little over 1/2 a day to post something. Do an arm party (does anyone still do those?), a neck soiree, or a ring orgy, shoot an instagram, add the link. You don't have to write a whole blog post! Simply accessorize to excess and link. GO!

I got to meet Patti in person a couple of days ago. As sweet in life as she is on the internet!
And her hubby Sandy saved me from the Parking Monster.

Link and tell, PLEASE!

Sock It To Me, Geometrically

PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/ PRESS SAMPLE*/ LINKS/

This post was prompted (harhar) by Maricel asking about "Geometric" prints and my own confusion over the order of the 52 Pick-me-up prompts. I messed up on the graphic calendar (that gave me mild bursitis, btw) and "Go Green" HAD to be during the week with St. Patrick's Day and it wasn't. I shuffled around the order of the challenges but was still looking at the old calendar. Are you more confused now? Yeah, me too.

Moving along, here are some geometric socks that inspired my look:
Happy Socks. Some of the greatest graphic socks around.
(not sponsored by them but I should be)
And aren't the pansies sweet? They really liked the deluge of rain that we got last week.

just doing my FTC due diligence here, folks
It's still Sock Inspiration week on 52 Pick-me-up.
If you don't have any weird socks or tights, click here for some inspiration.
You don't have to PURCHASE anything.
Just drag the image of your choice to your desktop (or make a screen capture) and use it to compile your outfit.

I'm taking my crazy legs over to Patti's Visible Monday. Can't miss me in this CMYK ensemble.
You have until very early Wednesday morning (PDT -- did you remember to change your clocks forward today?) to link up here.

52 Pick-me-up: Closet Orphans | Ending 2013 at the Beach

PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/ GIFTED/ PRESS SAMPLES*/
Happy 2014, everyone!
Start the new year with a 52 Pick-me-up challenge. It's a weekly series that I started last June.
You can see all the prompts if you click on the menu bar tab up top.

This week, it's time to wear something old, something that you haven't worn for a year (also known as a closet orphan). You know you have such items. I do, in spades. I've got the "too small but still like" box.
I've got the "needs repair or revamp it" boxes.
I KNOW those boxes are full of things I haven't worn for a while, if ever.
Here's the one I dug around in:
I threw the contenders in a pile (yes, on the floor):
Hmmmm, that floral-paisley skirt might work
I bought this skirt at Savers in Austin in March 2012.
It was too small, but I got it anyway for the print, which I adore.
Look! If I wear it under my extremely huge turtleneck, no one can tell that it's riding up on my ribs!
(Please ignore the fact that I didn't press it and it's a wrinkled mess.)
All ready for work.
*little pink tuft necklace c/o Capwell & Co.
Ah, work on New Year's Eve. We were let out early.
Co-workers rejoice. Me, on the time clock, not so happy.
2.5 days of working will NOT pay the rent. So I didn't clock out. Maybe they'll pay me for a full day.

ANYWAY

Through forces beyond my control (OK, in the wrong lane on the 605),
I ended up going a different way home (105 vs 60/10 through dtLA).
So I thought, why not go to the beach and do some sort of end-of-year ritual?

GOOD IDEA!

I always gravitate to the Playa Del Rey beach. Easy to park is reason #1.
I wanted to find a rock, write 2013 in Sharpie, and hurl it into the Pacific.
No rocks, but this piece of "beach plastic" served well:

Do you perform any year end rituals? (Aside from NYE parties) Do tell!

Now, back to my challenge. What can you find that you haven't worn for a year?
