Patti on the Digital Catwalk for St. Patti's Day

I'm doing one of those "Post 5 Artworks..." challenges on Facebook [find mine here], and I thought I'd make it more complicated for myself by making blog posts with the art. Each day a different blog. [Yes, I have 5+ blogs. Ack!]
We are at Day 5, which brings us to SpyGirl, the fashion blog that consumes me. The other blogs? I write posts occasionally. SpyGirl has showcased my fashion passions since March 2010. This marks my 863rd post.

Through SpyGirl, I returned to fashion sketching. I'll be showing a rainbow of digital catwalk sketches at TAG Gallery, November 22 - December 17, 2016. The over-40 fashion/style blogging crowd will be featured. There will be a fashion party during the exhibition, and you'll be the first to know the details if you sign up here.

On to some art:

Yes, Patti is a saint. She hosts a huge link-up party called Visible Monday on her blog Not Dead Yet Style , and she comments on every blogger that links. That's more than a hundred comments, EVERY WEEK! Amazing.

52 Pick-me-up: Cherry / Acceptance

•••
We have a poster girl for Cherry Week on 52 Pick-me-up:
It's Sue, of A Colorful Canvas!

Not only is she doing things with a cherry, her dress is a CHERRY PRINT! Awesome, right?
Even more amazing, she made her dress, then made a matching lanyard!
(Can you see it up there? I know, the cherry action is distracting).

Lets get that Digital Catwalk going with Sue:

In Tori's Toolkit Workbook for Cherry Week, she has the following exercise:
Complete this sentence "I feel incomplete because ________ and when I have this I will _________."

My take:
I feel incomplete because I lack initiative to get my personal artwork done and when I have this I will feel much more fulfilled."
Procrastination. My self-inflicted bugbear.

Digital Catwalk: Jaye

CREATED/ LINKS
Jaye of Curvatude

Jaye found me on Google+  during the height of my Mug Mania last week.
She put in a request for a sketch so that she could purchase an art print and a mug.

Here's how I responded:
Sure, I'd be happy to sketch you! Most of my fashion sketches are done from looking at blog outfit posts. I don't exactly copy the photo but interpret the look. You can either point me towards one of your posts or email me a photo. Or even send me a "wish list" look!
When I've got the sketch finished, I'll post it on Society6 and then you order what you want. If you want a product other than the mug, let me know. They all require differently formatted files.
My sketching turnaround will be four days. If you catch me on the weekend, even faster.

This was my first sketch using a more "curvy" drawing template:
Yep, I trace my Digital Catwalk sketches over a nude template. This is how I drew croquis figures back in school and all through my fashion design career.

This is the crazy-looking "supermodel" figure I've been using for my drawings this year:

I'll do a post showing how my fashion sketching has morphed over the years. Maybe next week -- have to dig around and find the old stuff that's pre-digital. Out in the garage. Scary.

Your Mug on a Mug

CREATED/ LINKS/
First I designed this, from my 30 sketches of +40 bloggers that I drew last April:
available here on Society6
Then I thought, wouldn't it be fun to offer individual sketches:
Selfie!
available here
If I've already made the sketch, I can easily format it for a mug (or phone case, or tote, or other Society6 product).
You'll need to ask me to upload the art, however. You can do so in the comments below or send me an email (especially if you want to be secretive and get something for a friend). I'll let you know when it's available so that you can order the finished item from Society6 directly.

Here's the sketch that I used for the sample above:
It's from my 52 Pick-me-up: Accessories First outfit.

Digital Catwalk: Alicia does Feet First

CREATED/ LINKS/

This is only part one -- I have more to say!
I was running so late for work, that couldn't finish...
More on Thursday!:

Alicia calls her blog "Spashionista" for a reason. Her mission statement is: "The trials and tribulations of a 50+ fashionista with Cerebral Palsy who wants women of all ages and abilities to look and feel beautiful." I knew I needed to draw Alicia in her wheelchair, a new challenge! Here's my process:

First, I roughly traced over a screenshot from her post, in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet:
I made an extra white layer (set at 50% opacity) in-between the photo and the drawing layer so that I could see both while I was working.

I then printed out my line work and drew over that in my sketchbook
I like this sketch too -- it's more "real life" vs fashiony.

If you follow my Instagram or Twitter, I posted a totally different sketch to announce who was my 52 Pick-me-up muse for the week. It's Alicia standing (she DOES stand in some of her shots). I got that one colored up this morning:
Thanks Alicia for inspiring me to try something new!
