#SecondHandSeptember Accessories

Let's talk scarves. Scarves always fit.

Well, most of the time anyway.
I got this one "dumpster diving" at Otis Fashion.
I'm sure it was a rejected experiment from the Textile Class, the fabric dying lesson.
It barely fits around my neck.
I like the funny faces and I'm keeping it.
Thanks, unknown Otis Fashion student!
Let's look at the wall of scarves behind me:
Which ones are second hand?
All of these!
In 2015 I did a month-long blog challenge where my fake persona Enid catalogued some of my scarves.
Here's the link.

Go Fish

Patti featured this sketch last week in her "Why I Like Instagram" post.
It's one of my lunch break selfie sketches. (To see them all filtered by the hashtag on Tumblr, click here).

This is the end? I have reached the Zs?
This "punishment" wasn't as bad as I thought.
How does Miz Bagg know these things?

52 Pick-me-up: Match Your Scarf

PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/
This prompt was so much fun last year, I'm doing it again.
First you find a scarf, then you match your outfit to it.

I chose this Indian silk square that I "borrowed" from my mom back in 69 or 70.
Scarf it up! Link and tell!

I'm linking with Patti's Visible Monday later today. No hiding behind scarves for me!
Also linking with Maricel's TARDIS Tuesday. Because blue.

Happy St TARDIS Tuesday

PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/ GIFTED/
I saw this StyleMint blue/black/green dress on someone in Go Chic or Go Home, my online Digital Closet community and HAD to have it. It's rather cheap cotton blend knit that is now starting to pill and I'll keep wearing it until I kill it.
You've seen it before, but never combined like this!

Jan, of Fort Smith Stylista, kindly gave me the Duro Olowu shirt because I raved about hers, you can see how I sketched her in it here. The shirt had been sadly languishing in my closet because the right sleeve was too tight due to my lymphedema. Solution? I cut off the sleeves!

Severo gave me the socks, from his February Sock Haul in Brooklyn. These came in a 3-pack that sold for $1.99. He now checks my feet every morning to see what socks I'm wearing.
He has a gig in Boston this weekend. Will he bring home some new socks for my collection?

A Blogger Picnic!

I donned one of my favorite tunics...
Loaded up my arm with blogger bracelets...
And made my way to Griffith Park, for the 3rd Annual Two Point Oh LA picnic.

Upon arrival, I spied a table laden with British tea treats (I especially liked the scones):
There were myriad tents with goodies and services:
Hairroin Salon was braiding hair
(I did not have enough... hair, that is)
Sole Society offered shoes
Très chic!
Gigi and I chose the same sunglasses from Ditto (see below)
Ditto had a very popular tent. They were giving out sunglasses to Style Visionaries.
Stay tuned for more on that!
It being a blogger picnic, there was posing:
Elizabeth of A Keene Sense of Style
and photography:
Our hostess, Kelsi of Dedicated Follower of Fashion, is on the far right in the cupcake dress.
And it being the park, we had the paleta guy!

It was a lovely afternoon. I had a long chat with Amy of A Sunny Day in L.A., did some quick sketching (next post), and snagged fabulous sunglasses (next next post). Thank you Kelsi, for a wonderful event!

Oh no! It's Monday already! May I have another day of weekend? Please?

5 on Summer Standby

Quick: name five things in your closet that Never Let You Down. The indispensables. Your classics.

Here are mine:
1) Huipil
2) Plastic Chinese Sandals
3) Shawl
4) Socks
5) Leggings

I take these five components and can be casual around the house or dress them up and go out on the town or hop in the car and go on a road trip. With them I can get through the summer and feel comfortable in my skin.

Which is exactly what I did last Thursday. I "needed" to make a pilgrimage to the beach.

I started from the North Valley. Got on the 118...
Santa Susana Pass
Kept going west...
Pit stop at the Somis Nut House to obtain some Divinity
On westward to PCH and Point Mugu
I pitched a piece of Divinity into the Pacific and said a prayer for Jane.

This was partly inspired by the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday topic for this week : Five Essentials, hosted by Katy of Modly Chic. See other responses here.

More Pattern Play - #OOTD

I took this Instagram yesterday, to see if these new acquisitions from Larry matched my Shabby Apple skirt:
They do! Best combo is the mod paisley (center top). Alas, that is a smock with a too small bodice, so sewing would be required (or I wear it as a long vest? Didn't think of that...).
Ah, look what wandered in from the clean laundry -- the orange stripe shirt from Friday! Match!
Right now, it's too warm in the office to wear the shirt (and I need to wash it) so I stuck the chiffon scarf in my bag:
Match again!
One thing, I need to shorten the hem on the skirt to above knee length. Too frumpy!
