Crazy Pants Debut at Otis

Did you see my Crazy Pants on Instagram yesterday?
I've had these since 1997 and have never worn them.
Unbelievable, right?
They've been hiding in plain sight in one of my closets for a while.
Scarves on the left, a quasi "repair and sell" assortment on the right, fabric stash in the back.
I "saw" them every day, but didn't see them on me, if you know what I mean.

Yesterday, I tried them on (for the first time -- I kid you not!).
Wowza!
Aside from the abhorrent fiber content (OG 60's nylon tricot) they are GROOVY, man.
That print is going places!

Curious about my lovely pendant?
Since I lost a very important thumb drive (had all my latest course handouts from my Digital Design for Fashion class, not backed up, of course), I attached another one to the polkadot lanyard that Sue made for our Vancouver Blogger meetup.
(Sorry for the "exposed" USB plug. Kids, avert your eyes).
I managed to not leave this one behind in the classroom. At least for this week.

After class, the Crazy Pants went to Whittier to see Stan Ridgway in concert.
But that's another post for another blog.
"Seems like a pretty good idea to me".

5 on Summer Standby

Quick: name five things in your closet that Never Let You Down. The indispensables. Your classics.

Here are mine:
1) Huipil
2) Plastic Chinese Sandals
3) Shawl
4) Socks
5) Leggings

I take these five components and can be casual around the house or dress them up and go out on the town or hop in the car and go on a road trip. With them I can get through the summer and feel comfortable in my skin.

Which is exactly what I did last Thursday. I "needed" to make a pilgrimage to the beach.

I started from the North Valley. Got on the 118...
Santa Susana Pass
Kept going west...
Pit stop at the Somis Nut House to obtain some Divinity
On westward to PCH and Point Mugu
I pitched a piece of Divinity into the Pacific and said a prayer for Jane.

This was partly inspired by the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday topic for this week : Five Essentials, hosted by Katy of Modly Chic. See other responses here.

30 for 30: June/July

Kendi of Kendi Everyday came up with this great challenge:
1. Take 30 items in your closet. 2. Make 30 outfits.
She dubbed it 30 for 30.
My favorite Closet Community, Go Chic or Go Home is hosting a version of this, and I'm going to give it a whirl. At this point, I'm pulling items from my virtual closet onto my 30x30 page.
as you can see, I've got a brown/green/black/white color story developing
Scarves don't count in the tally of garments - at this point, I've got them there as reminders of what'll go with what. I'm thinking I'll take a more relaxed approach of: determining the 30 garments and tracking the 30 outfits BUT not trying to do it in 30 days. (Might not even post the outfits here until after I've finished.) I still need to upload pix of my leggings and such.
Will report back when I've finalized my 30!
