SaveArtSpace and Pussy Riot announce their upcoming exhibition PATRIARCHY R.I.P., a public art exhibition of 10 artworks by female and LGBTQ+ artists to be presented on billboard ad spaces across 9 US states. The exhibition is curated by Pussy Riot activist Nadya Tolokonnikova to protest the gender pay gap in the art world.

SaveArtSpace put out an open call for female and LGBTQ+ artists, to submit visual artwork on topics of female and LGBTQ+ empowerment, smashing the patriarchy, and eliminating gender inequality in the distribution of capital. Art by women sells for 50% less than works by men, and female artists accounted for just 5% of all NFT art sales. In the traditional art world, female artists represent just 2% of the market. The market for work by women is still less than the total sales for Picasso alone.
Nadya Tolokonnikova selected 10 artworks to be exhibited on billboard ad spaces in New York, California, Tennessee, Nevada, Missouri, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama.

Artworks of 10 female and LGBTQ+ artists + Pussy Riot will be erected across the US, mostly in the conservative states, where women and LGBTQ+ people need inspiration and solidarity the most. "PATRIARCHY R.I.P." celebrates the end of the domination of men over women, the premature death of the macho power.

For Pussy Riot it's always been a priority to do our statements in a manner that everyone can hear. Bringing our art to the streets and making it available for people who do not have time to go to museums.”
