Fantasy Tights

This is what I wore on Thursday for my teaching gig [Digital Fashion at Otis].
I lack decent legwear to coordinate with the burgundy/navy dress and had to resort to boring black tights. Despite that fact, I got my Fluevog Enthusiasts captured by the roving Otis Instagrammer @designschoolshoes Woohoo!
I coordinate so nicely with the wall.
I recently made a print for this week's Spoonflower design challenge that would work perfectly:
Alas, custom tights have yet to appear on either Redbubble or Society6, so they are only a Photoshopped fantasy. (Yes, I've had custom tights made before, but there's a minimum order of 6 pairs and I still have inventory left from that endeavor. Not something worth repeating).

AND the Navy/Burgundy up for voting in the Spoonflower Challenge. May I solicit your vote? Voting is open until 2/20, 3pm EST. Keep scrolling until you find my submission!

52 Pick-me-up: Navy / Quest

•••
We are finishing off our seven weeks of blue hues with Navy.

I was all set to have this be a post about Poshmark and selling this Navy and wine striped dress from Uniqlo:
That's not a pin at my chest. It's the size sticker.
I was going to sell it NWT [new with tags]
A funny thing happened while I was taking my product shots...
Rare view of my butt.
I decided that I liked it after all and I'm not going to sell it!
It's super comfortable!
I just need to remove the pockets -- the pocket bags are too bulky on my hips.
My hips are big enough, thankyouverymuch.

Here's the saga of why I have this new dress that I thought I didn't like:

Remember the Uniqlo Del Amo store opening that I attended back in October?
Remember the flannel shirt that was too small?
I found it online in my size, along with some bright tees that weren't at Del Amo either. The dress looked cute on the model (don't they always), it was on sale for $19.98, and I added it to my cart.

Upon arrival, it didn't live up to my fantasies (a hazard of online shopping). I wanted to send it back, but a mail-in return was going to incur a "restocking charge". Sigh. I could return it to a local Uniqlo store but never made it within the 30-day deadline because of a combo of laziness and the holiday season (I don't "do" malls during November/December).

Anyway.
It's a keeper, for now. I like how it looks with the argyle tights.

Back to the subject of Poshmark.
I've had some success with sales, and have racked up some "bank" to shop with.
I went on a Quest for Mexican huipils, etc, and found this:
Yes!
Mine!
I thought from the photos that it'd be a darker blue, but that's OK. It's lovely.

Signing in at Patti's Visible Monday, like always.
I'll also link this up with Judith's Hat Attack for April.

Navy or any other Blue / Quest -- Link and tell!
I'm changing up the link-up schedule and will have it open for a longer period starting next week.
For this week, here are all the "BLUE" linkups. I've reopened them, so add to whichever shade of blue you coordinate with. ;-)

Party On at UNIQLO

UNIQLO, the Japanese fast fashion chain, is opening some new stores today.
UNIQLO Chicago's opening is being hyped online.
LOOK! Free shipping all weekend!

Last night I ventured down to the Del Amo Fashion Center for the UNIQLO Torrence pre-opening party.
Live DJ!
Wakame Salad in mini cups! (My dinner).
Deep discounts!
What was in my shopping bag?
Men's HeatTech Crew, Women's Airism Tank, Navy Tights, Men's Dry Tee in Aqua (not online, unless it's the Green)
The flannel shirt was too small (sad face), but I checked online while composing this post, and SCORE! Same for the TARDIS blue "dry" tee (which they only had in XS-L instore).

And what was originally in that $1 display?
SOCKS!!!!!!
SEVEN pairs for ONE DOLLAR!!!!!
[Hey Marlita on my left. Even just your fraction of your face is flawless!]
Can you believe that I debated whether to get these? That damn decluttering project.
It was fun running into Marlita, of Marlita On the Run and her friend at the event.
We were there until closing.

Then things got grim.

Word of warning -- don't stay inside the mall past 8:45.
I couldn't retrace my steps through Macy's to get to my car.
I had to go outside the mall.
I got totally lost and wandered around A LOT -- make that A LOT of LOTS.
Not fun. Scary even.
Del Amo is huge and everything looks the same in the dark.
Single woman wandering around in the dark, random dudes lurking in dark corners, construction crews...
Seriously, I had to use my phone's GPS to locate where I had parked.
Hello car! So glad to finally find you! Glad that I remembered that I parked near Sears.
Anyhow, this weekend is definitely the time to stock up on basics at UNIQLO.
From the comfort of your home.
Unless you want to try your luck finding ONE DOLLAR SOCKS!

Disclosure: I was invited to the store preview. The salad was free. Everything else I paid for.

In the Mix

CREATED/ PURCHASED/ GIFTED/ LINKS
tee - plumpynuts x Uniqlo
tunic - I designed and sewed it
socks - Happy Socks (same dot, different style)
shoes - White Mountain (gift from Leslie)
I ordered this tee on a whim. It's a plumpynuts x Uniqlo colab and only $19.90. I ordered a medium (I think large was sold out) and you can see it's very roomy! I think I'd even fit in a small. Yesterday I swanned around with it over my cityscape tunic and was very comfortable. It's an odd, deconstructed styling -- it's giving me some ideas for the scads of stripe sample yardage I've dragged home from work.

I'd never heard of plumpynuts before, but they do some cool designs. Here's the blurb about them from Uniqlo: After building their careers as designers at foundation addict from 2005 to 2008, Miyuki Omichi and Ayumi Kita started a new brand, plumpynuts, and opened their own boutique, SHOW CASE by plumpynuts, in Tokyo's jingumae area in 2009. In 2011, plumpynuts organized a first fashion show in VERSUS TOKYO, an industory event produced by Yuichi Yoshii. The plumpynuts brand specializes in high-quality, coquettish, and playful designs for women.
Here's their link.
