Hello 2019

Long time no "see".
These are my "Tiny Planets" for the work week. I make them with an app, using elements of my outfit.
The app bends the photo into a circle.
I've been posting my outfits on Instagram.

Here's what I wore to work last week:

As you can see, Friday's outfit was the favorite!

For this post, I learned how to embed IG posts.
So easy.
On Instagram, you go to "More, ie the triple dots" and choose "Embed".
You'll then get html code to paste into wherever.

Almost All Black and White

This is what I didn't wear on Saturday:
Here are the bracelets that I photographed and also didn't wear:
Technically, the studded item is an old belt from the 80s that no longer fits around my waist.
This part DID make it beyond the patio to Otis for my Digital Design class then to Whittier to see Dave and Phil Alvin:
Starring the new-to-me zebra clogs! I love them! They are so VISIBLE!
The meeting of the dot socks and the checkered leggings was a bit unresolved. Which to layer on top?
In this photo, that I took during break at Otis, it looks like I popped my ankle and it became swollen:
No injury, just extra fabric in a wad.
About the wardrobe change: all the black and white elements remained on my person. I realized the Todd Oldham mosaic jacket wouldn't keep me warm enough after sundown, so I donned something warmer. Then, just as I was getting in the car for school, while removing my heavier jacket, I realized that there was a large highly visible expanse of my torso that I wasn't feeling like sharing with my students. Back inside I went, finding the perfect torso camo: the Duro Olowu top that Jan gave me four years ago. Ahhhh. Outfit zen achieved.
Today's reenactment of outfit:
Umbrella and goofy hat added for current weather conditions.

Happy St TARDIS Tuesday

PURCHASED/ PURLOINED/ GIFTED/
I saw this StyleMint blue/black/green dress on someone in Go Chic or Go Home, my online Digital Closet community and HAD to have it. It's rather cheap cotton blend knit that is now starting to pill and I'll keep wearing it until I kill it.
You've seen it before, but never combined like this!

Jan, of Fort Smith Stylista, kindly gave me the Duro Olowu shirt because I raved about hers, you can see how I sketched her in it here. The shirt had been sadly languishing in my closet because the right sleeve was too tight due to my lymphedema. Solution? I cut off the sleeves!

Severo gave me the socks, from his February Sock Haul in Brooklyn. These came in a 3-pack that sold for $1.99. He now checks my feet every morning to see what socks I'm wearing.
He has a gig in Boston this weekend. Will he bring home some new socks for my collection?

Olowu Shirt, Act I: Sleep With the Fishes

LINKS/ PURLOINED/ PURCHASED/ GIFTED
I finally took The Shirt out on the town. I wore this on Friday to see The Great Gatsby. I went with Ruth and we ran into Heather. For such a large metropolis, LA can be a village! I'll discuss Gatsby later. I'm still cogitating on it.

Now fasten your seatbelt, I'm introducing you to my favorite new app: Tiny Planets [for iPhone, 99¢, for Android, $2.99].
It takes a photo and bends it into a sphere.
I'm using it for my #ootd shots now because it is so stellar!
Inside the net of fishes lies the Planet Olowu!

If your head is spinning, jet on over to Patti's Visible Planet.
She'll cure what ails ya.

Fantasy and Reality

PURCHASED/ GIFTED/
Here's another combo that I thought of yesterday:
Olowu plus City Scribble tunic.
Arm still bad, so this outfit is only in my dreams.
What I'm actually wearing.
And looking at these two photos,
I think the dot scarf goes nicely with the shirt too.

Major good outcome of experiment:
I can wear my Mary Jane clogs again.
The mysterious top of foot pain is gone.

Huzzah!

The Duro Olowu x JCP Shirt Goes for Its Audition

CREATED/ PURCHASED/ GIFTED/ LINKS
Remember Jan in her Duro Olowu shirt?
[Jan won the "longest legs" prize in the April sketchathon, btw]

I was entranced by it, but couldn't buy it online ("sold out").
Imagine my glee when Jan said she'd pick me up one when she was next "in town".
Jan lives near Fort Smith, Arkansas so there was lots of Olowu inventory at her JCP.

Eventually, the planets aligned and it arrived on my doorstep.
OH HAPPY DAY!

Next, what to mix it with?
I have matching socks!
I piled some candidates next to it...
Then I tried things on.
#1, the Calvin Klein bubble dress (07 sold as a swim coverup)
with yellow tights -- looks good but problematic:
very warm, dress won't stay in place
#2, 80s neon yellow bubble knit and the socks
I'd probably wear this with burg/brown/black capris or tights added
#3, for giggles, I tried it with my Indian jingle jangle skirt.
Looking a bit lost in all that fabric.
The legs win!

Alas, my right arm is swollen, and the right shirt sleeve is skin tight, so I'll have to wait to wear this. BooHoo! This just might inspire me to get back to taking care of my arm issues. I might think of some other combos in the interim as well!

Jan, thank you again for the shirt! I adore it!
